But before everything else, let’s first know a little about Spam.
What is a Spam?
Spam is actually an unrequested email that usually comes from an anonymous or untraceable source. Such spam mails usually contain certain links or file attachments that make your RR email security vulnerable. These spam emails are a major security threat, and sometimes it also has malicious software that can infect your computer.
How to protect your Email account from such spam
You can protect yourself from email spam and make your email security stronger by doing the following steps:
Mark the suspicious emails as Spam
If you ever receive an email that you feel suspicious about and do not know about its source, you can mark it as Spam. This way, that particular email or email address will be marked as Spam. And your email account will block those emails in the future.
Now follow these steps to Mark the suspicious emails as spam:
- Firstly, mark the check box appearing next to the email that you want to block.
- Then click on the Mark As
- Lastly, click on the Spam option to mark it as spam.
Thus emails from that particular source will automatically go to the spam folder in the future.
Use the Real-time Blacklist (RBL) feature
According to Spectrum’s Terms of Services, users who engage in unsolicited e-mail campaigns are blacklisted and banned. And similarly, Spectrum also blocks the inbound emails coming from spammers that have their IP address listed on RBL.
Use the Rate Limiting feature
Spectrum allows its users to send only a specific number of emails in an hour. It also limits the number of recipients per hour. This way, Spectrum checks the mail system’s usability and stability for its customers, and it also reduces spam chances.
Other Ways to Check Email Spam and Email Viruses
Sometimes the email AI system does not recognize certain spam emails. And on the contrary, sometimes it does not mark spam mails as spam. In such cases, you can do the following:
Report the Email Abuse
Either you can report the spam as email abuse to the Federal Trade Commission, or you can report it on Spectrum’s reporting internet abuse page.
You can also take help from Spectrum’s Email Security page.
In case any Email is wrongly marked as Spam
As we mentioned earlier, sometimes the email’s AI system wrongly marks some emails as spam and sends them to the spam folder. You can resolve this issue by using the following steps:
- Firstly, open the Spam folder of your account and select the email you want to remove from this folder.
- Then tap on the Mark as
- And lastly, open the drop-down menu and tap on the Not Spam
And you have to keep an eye on the Spam folder for such issues, as it automatically deletes the spam emails after 14 days.
In case you are having trouble sending you emails
Sometimes the users experience certain issues while sending their emails, due to which they are not able to send the email. Such issues occur when the emails are not according to the conditions of the Spectrum Webmail.
Please check the following conditions before sending the email:
- The email should not have a size of more than 30 MB, including attachments.
- The Attached files should not be more than 20 MB.
- Users can send emails to 1000 recipients per 24 hours.
